BLACK MAGIC

This project was greatly inspired by avant garde fashion, embodying a midnight black colour palette whilst exploring a variety of fabric textural qualities including cotton organdie, habotai silk, shiny silk and 100% cotton. Structural and three dimensional embroidery was a key focus within the Black Magic collection which features the use of unconventional materials; silicone tubing, latex and fabric manipulation techniques; smocking, folding and ruffles, suitable for couture womenswear.

The underlying context which stemmed from initial drawings was the theme of movement, which gave the structural embroidery a new direction as each manipulated fabric had a unique movement quality when handled.
